How to prepare for NHB Assistant Manager

  • Respect the sectional timing. Each objective section has its own clock, so you cannot borrow time from Reasoning to finish Quantitative Aptitude; practise each to its own limit.
  • Quantitative Aptitude carries 60 marks with a heavy data-interpretation weight. Drilling DI sets is the single highest-return activity for this paper.
  • Bend your General Awareness towards banking, RBI, NHB and the housing-finance sector, and learn what NHB actually does, which also helps in the interview.
  • Treat the descriptive paper as a threshold, not a scoring chance: practise a letter and an essay so you clear the qualifying minimum comfortably.
  • Because selection is 80:20 between exam and interview, the objective test is the main lever. Sit full-length, sectionally timed mocks to build that score.

Frequently asked questions

What does NHB do, and how does that shape the exam?

NHB is the apex institution for housing finance, providing refinance to and supervising housing finance companies. Its General Awareness leans towards banking, RBI, NHB and the housing-finance sector, so build that alongside the usual current affairs.

Why do Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude matter more here?

Those two sections carry 60 marks each out of 200, more than their 45 and 35 question counts suggest, and each is separately timed. Strong scores there move the needle most, and the data-interpretation-heavy quantitative section is where careful practice pays off.

Is the descriptive paper scored into the merit?

No. The descriptive English paper is qualifying, evaluated only if you clear the objective minimums. The interview shortlist is built on the objective score, and the final merit is the online exam and interview in an 80:20 ratio.

Is there negative marking?

Yes, one fourth of a mark for each wrong answer in the objective test. The descriptive paper has no negative marking.
