Uttar Pradesh Police Constable (Civil Police) Recruitment is conducted by Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board. Selection runs through 3 stages: Written Examination, Physical Standard and Efficiency Tests (PST and PET), Document Verification and Medical Examination.

  1. Sit the OMR-based written examination, whose normalised score decides the shortlist.
  2. Clear the qualifying Physical Standard Test and Physical Efficiency Test.
  3. Complete Document Verification and the medical examination.
  4. Final selection follows the written-exam merit, subject to the qualifying stages.

Educational qualification

Passed the 12th standard (Intermediate) or an equivalent examination from a recognised board on the cut-off date stated in the notification.

The general-category upper age limit is 25 years for men and 28 years for women, with a relaxation of up to 5 years for SC, ST and OBC candidates. Candidates must also meet the physical standards for height and, for men, chest measurement.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a degree for UP Police Constable?

No. A 12th-standard (Intermediate) pass is the minimum qualification. There is no graduation requirement for the Constable post.

Is the running test scored?

No. The Physical Standard Test and Physical Efficiency Test are qualifying only. Your rank comes from the written examination; the physical stages are pass or fail.

What running standard is required?

Men must run 4.8 km in 25 minutes and women 2.4 km in 14 minutes. You need to complete it within the time to qualify.

How much is deducted for a wrong answer?
