Passed the Intermediate (Class 12) examination or an equivalent from a recognised board. Some posts carry additional physical or trade requirements as stated in the notification.

The general-category age band is commonly 18 to 27 years, relaxed for reserved categories as per state rules; the exact band and relaxations are fixed by the notification. Candidates must also meet physical standards and clear the physical efficiency test.
