The fifteenth element from the left is B. Counting seven more to the right - W, 6, @, E, 4, U, 8 - the seventh is '8'.
Coded inequality · solved example

Solution
Decode first: P @ Q is P >= Q, Q & R is Q > R, and R $ S is R = S. Conclusion I asks whether P > S. Since P >= Q > R = S, it does. Conclusion II asks whether S >= Q. But S equals R, and Q is strictly greater than R, so S is strictly less than Q and the conclusion fails. Only I follows. Write the decoded chain out before touching the conclusions, because reading the symbols one at a time while testing is where these go wrong.

Solution
R is at seat 2 and T is at seat 5, so V and U (seats 3 and 4) sit between them - two friends.
Coding and decoding · solved example
If A = 1, B = 2, C = 3 and so on, and the code for a word is the sum of its letters, what is the code for ACE?
Solution
A = 1, C = 3, E = 5, so the code is 1 + 3 + 5 = 9.
