Indian Coast Guard Navik (General Duty) — Coast Guard Enrolled Personnel Test (CGEPT) is conducted by Indian Coast Guard (Ministry of Defence). Selection runs through 3 stages: Stage I — Computer Based Test, Stage II — Assessment Test, Physical Fitness Test and initial medical, Final medical examination.

  1. Sit the Stage I Computer Based Test and pass Section I and Section II separately.
  2. Clear the qualifying Stage II assessment test, Physical Fitness Test, document verification and initial medical.
  3. Pass the final medical examination.
  4. Final merit, zone-wise and category-wise, follows the Stage I score subject to qualifying all later stages.

Eligibility

Educational qualification

Open toClass 12 pass

Passed Class 12 (10+2) with Mathematics and Physics as subjects from an education board recognised by the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE).

Recruitment under the CGEPT for Navik (General Duty) is for male candidates. Recent cycles have also required a minimum aggregate (around 60%) in Class 12; confirm from the notification.

18 to 22 years as on As fixed by each batch notification (for the 01/26 and 02/26 batches, candidates born between 01 August 2004 and 01 August 2008).

  • Section I (common) carries 60 marks at Class 10 level; Section II (for Navik GD) carries 50 marks — Mathematics 25 and Physics 25 — at Class 12 (PCM) level.
  • You must pass Section I and Section II separately: about 30 and 20 marks respectively for General/EWS/OBC (27 and 17 for SC/ST).
  • The per-subject split within Section I shown here is indicative; the exact composition is fixed by the notification. The paper is bilingual (English and Hindi), except the English section.

  2. Fill the CGEPT application form

    Enter your personal details and Class 12 (PCM) marks, choose your centre and upload the photograph and signature as specified.

  3. Pay the fee and submit

    Pay the application fee online where applicable, submit the form and save the printout for reference.

How to prepare for Coast Guard Navik (GD)

  • Section II (Class 12 Maths and Physics) is what sets Navik GD apart — study it from NCERT, since you must pass this section separately.
  • Do not neglect Section I: Class 10 Maths, Science, English, Reasoning and GK are scoring and also carry a separate cut-off.
  • There is no negative marking, so attempt every question after your best reasoning.
  • Start Physical Fitness Test training early — a 1.6 km run in 7 minutes with push-ups and squat-ups needs weeks of steady practice.

Who can apply for Coast Guard Navik (General Duty)?

Male candidates who have passed Class 12 with Mathematics and Physics from a COBSE-recognised board and are aged 18 to 22 (with category relaxations).

Is there negative marking in the Coast Guard CBT?

No. There is no negative marking. However, you must clear both Section I and Section II separately to qualify.
