How to prepare for Indian Air Force Agniveer (Agniveervayu)

    • Fix your group first: Science-group aspirants must be quick and accurate in Physics and Mathematics at CBSE Class 11–12 level, so revise formulas and practise two-step problems for speed.
    • English is common to both groups and easy to score — drill grammar, vocabulary and short comprehension a little every day.
    • For the Other-than-Science group, RAGA rewards steady reasoning practice plus current affairs and static GK, especially defence and science awareness.
    • Watch the 0.25 negative marking: qualify each subject first, then push your total, rather than guessing blindly.
    • Begin physical training months ahead — the 1.6 km run and the strength tests need conditioning, not last-minute effort.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Science and Other-than-Science groups?

The Science group (Group X trades) needs Class 12 with Physics, Maths and English and tests English, Physics and Mathematics. The Other-than-Science group (Group Y trades) is open to any stream and tests English and Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA).

Is there negative marking in the Agniveervayu online test?

Yes. Each correct answer earns 1 mark and 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. Unattempted questions carry no penalty.

    Can girls apply for Agniveervayu?

Yes. Unmarried women candidates are recruited as Agniveervayu in eligible trades, alongside men, within the age window.

    What happens after four years?

Agniveervayu serve a four-year engagement and receive a tax-free Seva Nidhi package on completion. Up to 25% of a batch may be selected, on merit, for the regular Air Force cadre.
