The GD Constable Computer Based Examination runs over many shifts, with a different paper in each and normalisation applied across them. The structure below is from the official notice: 80 questions for 160 marks in 60 minutes on a single clock, four sections of 20 questions each, each question worth two marks with 0.25 deducted for a wrong answer. The paper is offered in English, Hindi and thirteen regional languages. What this means for your preparation
The CBE score decides who is called for the physical tests, and the merit is drawn from it after normalisation, so this stage carries real weight rather than being a simple screen.
There is no sectional timing. Spend the 60 minutes where they earn most, which for most candidates means securing reasoning and mathematics first and leaving General Awareness for last.
General Knowledge is the section that separates candidates, because reasoning, mathematics and language are scoring for most. General science and current affairs together are about eight marks and are the highest-return revision.
The penalty is 0.25 marks per wrong answer against two marks per question, gentler in proportion than a bank paper. After eliminating two options, a guess is usually worth taking.
Choose the language you read fastest in for the English or Hindi section and for the paper medium overall. The pattern is identical across languages, so comfort, not appearance, is what matters.
Elementary Mathematics is matriculation level with no advanced geometry or trigonometry, so bank or SSC CGL arithmetic practice covers it comfortably.

- Can I download the SSC GD Constable Computer Based Examination 2024 question paper?
- Not from this site. In India an exam question paper is a copyright work owned by the conducting body, and reproducing it commercially is infringement. What you can do is view your own paper and responses through the official portal during the objection window after the exam, and the links to do that are on this page.
- Are these topic counts exact?
- No, and we would rather say so. The exam runs across multiple shifts with a different paper in each, and the conducting body does not publish a topic-wise breakdown. The section structure, marks and timing are official. The topic counts are our compilation from candidate reports and describe the typical shape of the paper.
- How should I use a weightage analysis?
- To decide what to study next and what to skip. If one block is a third of a section, practising it has several times the payoff of a topic that carries two questions. It also tells you which questions to leave in the exam itself, which matters more than most candidates think.
