What is 45% of 640 + 28% of 250?
Solution
45% of 640 is 0.45 x 640 = 288, and 28% of 250 is 0.28 x 250 = 70. Adding gives 288 + 70 = 358. Converting a percentage to a decimal and multiplying is the quickest route when the numbers are not round fractions.

Find the average of 10, 12, 14, 16, 18.

The sum of the 5 numbers is 70, and dividing by 5 gives 14.
Mensuration · solved example
A rectangle is 14 cm by 8 cm. Find its area in square cm.
Solution
Area = length × breadth = 14 × 8 = 112 square cm.
Simplification · solved example
Find the value of 18² − 12².
Solution
Using a² − b² = (a+b)(a−b) = 30 × 6 = 180.

SSC CGL 2026 cycle sets 55 Quantitative Aptitude questions for 140 marks, split across 25 in the Tier I (Computer Based Examination) and 30 in the Tier II, Paper I (Computer Based Examination).
Yes. SSC CGL deducts one fourth of a mark for each wrong answer, Quantitative Aptitude included, so unsure guesses cost you. 0.50 marks (a quarter of the two marks a question carries) are deducted for each wrong answer. Unanswered questions carry no penalty.
