A can complete a piece of work in 15 days and B in 10 days. Working together, in how many days will they finish it?
Solution
In one day A does 1/15 and B does 1/10 of the work. Together that is 1/15 + 1/10 = 2/30 + 3/30 = 5/30 = 1/6 per day, so the whole work takes 6 days. The LCM method also works: let the work be 30 units, A does 2 a day and B does 3, giving 5 a day and 30 / 5 = 6 days.

What is the total number of cars (petrol and diesel together) sold in February?
Solution
February sales are 150 petrol + 100 diesel = 250 cars.

Find the missing term: 1, 9, 25, 49, 81, ?
Solution
These are the squares of consecutive odd numbers: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, giving 1, 9, 25, 49, 81. The next odd number is 11, and 11 squared is 121. The distractor 144 is 12 squared, which breaks the odd-number pattern.

Solution
The operations alternate: ×3, then +2. Applying the next operation to 134 gives 402.
