India has endorsed the Call to Action for 6G Leadership and Security, joining over 20 like-minded governments — including the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Germany and France — committed to shaping sixth-generation wireless networks on principles of openness, interoperability, security, resilience and innovation-led competition. The endorsement was announced on the sidelines of the G20 Innovation Ministerial in Chapel Hill, North Carolina (1–2 September 2026). The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) will coordinate India’s follow-up with government, industry and academia; India aims to contribute 10% of global 6G standards and patents. PIB
