Railway Recruitment Board Centralised Employment Notice No. 03/2025 — Paramedical Categories is conducted by Railway Recruitment Boards, under the Railway Recruitment Control Board. Selection runs through 2 stages: Computer Based Test, Document Verification and Medical Examination.

  1. Identify the single post whose professional qualification you already hold, since requirements differ entirely across the seven categories.
  2. Clear the single-stage CBT, 70% of which is a Professional Ability paper set on your post's syllabus.
  3. Secure a place in the 1:1 shortlist for Document Verification on normalised CBT merit.
  4. Pass Document Verification with original professional registration and qualification certificates.
  5. Pass the medical fitness test for the post before empanelment and appointment.

Educational qualification

Entirely post-specific professional credentials on top of the minimum education route. Nursing Superintendent requires registration as a Nurse and Midwife with a three-year GNM course from an INC-recognised institution, or a B.Sc. Nursing degree. Pharmacist (Entry Grade) requires 10+2 in Science with a recognised Diploma in Pharmacy and registration under the Pharmacy Act, 1948, or a B.Pharma degree with registration. Dialysis Technician requires a B.Sc. plus a haemodialysis diploma or two years of in-house haemodialysis experience. Health and Malaria Inspector Grade II requires a B.Sc. with Chemistry as a main or optional subject plus a one-year health or sanitary inspector diploma or NTC. Radiographer X-Ray Technician requires 10+2 with Physics and Chemistry plus a two-year radiography diploma. ECG Technician requires 10+2 or a B.Sc. in Science plus a certificate, diploma or degree in ECG or cardiology technology of at least one year. Laboratory Assistant Grade II requires 12th in Science plus a DMLT or equivalent one-year full-time certificate meeting the conditions in the notice.

The qualificationLevels reflect the minimum education routes — Class 12 for posts such as Pharmacist and Laboratory Assistant, diploma or certificate courses for most technician posts, and graduate degrees for Nursing Superintendent, Dialysis Technician and Health and Malaria Inspector. The exact credential is always the post-specific professional qualification listed in Annexure A of CEN 03/2025, not the route alone.

18 to 40 years as on the cut-off date stated in CEN 03/2025 (08 September 2025 for most provisions).

  • 100 questions for 100 marks in a composite 90 minutes. PwBD candidates eligible for a scribe receive 120 minutes.
  • Professional Ability is 70% of the paper and is set on the syllabus of the post you applied for — a nurse and a pharmacist sit entirely different professional sections under the same notice.
  • Minimum qualifying marks in the CBT are 40% for UR and EWS, 30% for OBC and SC, and 25% for ST, with up to 2 marks relaxation for PwBD where a full panel cannot be formed.
  • Shortlisting for Document Verification is strictly 1:1 against vacancies on normalised CBT merit.

How to apply

  1. Read Annexure A for your post first

    Professional registration and the exact diploma or degree wording differ sharply between posts. Find your row in the post-parameters table before creating an account.

  2. Register on the RRB application portal

    Applications for CEN 03/2025 were submitted only through the link on official RRB websites. One application per candidate — duplicate applications lead to permanent debarment.

  3. Choose your Railway Recruitment Board

    Merit is drawn board by board and post by post. Vacancies per board are small, so this choice matters.

  4. Upload photograph, signature and certificates

    Live photo capture is required during application. Ensure scanned documents meet the specifications in the notice.

  5. Pay the fee and save the receipt

    Most of the fee is refunded after you appear for the CBT, so provide accurate bank details for the refund.

  • The professional qualification and registration certificate prescribed for your specific post, with all mark-sheets
  • Class 10 certificate for age and identity verification
  • Valid photo identity proof such as Aadhaar, PAN, passport, driving licence or voter ID
  • Caste, EWS or PwBD certificate in the prescribed central government format, where applicable
  • NOC from the present employer, for serving government employees, at Document Verification
  • Recent passport-size photograph and signature matching the images uploaded

Nursing Superintendent (272 posts, Level 7) draws initial pay of Rs 44,900 in pay level 7. Pharmacist Entry Grade (105 posts, Level 5) draws Rs 29,200. Other notified posts range from Rs 21,700 for Laboratory Assistant Grade II to Rs 35,400 for Dialysis Technician and Health and Malaria Inspector Grade II.

  • Nursing Superintendent: supervises nursing staff and ward administration in railway hospitals and health units.
  • Pharmacist (Entry Grade): dispenses medicines, maintains pharmacy stores and records in railway health institutions.
  • Health and Malaria Inspector Grade II: inspects sanitation, water supply and vector-control measures on railway premises.
  • Laboratory Assistant Grade II: supports pathology and biochemistry laboratory work in railway hospitals.
  • Dialysis Technician: operates haemodialysis equipment and assists nephrology units.
  • Radiographer X-Ray Technician: conducts diagnostic radiography in railway hospitals.
  • ECG Technician: performs electrocardiography and basic cardiovascular investigations.

How to prepare for RRB Paramedical Staff

  • Seventy marks ride on your own professional syllabus. Revising your nursing, pharmacy or laboratory degree material is the highest-return preparation; generic railway exam books will not cover it.
  • The remaining 30 marks — General Awareness, Arithmetic with Reasoning, and General Science — overlap with Group D and NTPC preparation, so any general railway study you have already done applies here.
  • Verify your INC, State Pharmacy Council or other registration certificate against the exact wording in Annexure A before paying the fee. Verification rejections are common when registration is pending.
  • With a one-third negative marking and a 1:1 shortlist, accuracy in the common sections matters almost as much as professional knowledge.
  • Use the official Annexure C syllabus for your post rather than coaching material from an unrelated paramedical category.

Frequently asked questions

Is the CBT the same for every paramedical post?

The paper structure is the same — 100 questions in 90 minutes — but 70 questions of Professional Ability are set on the syllabus of the post you applied for. A Nursing Superintendent candidate and a Pharmacist candidate therefore sit different professional sections under the same notice.

Which posts have the most vacancies?

Nursing Superintendent accounts for 272 of the 434 posts, and Pharmacist Entry Grade for 105. The remaining five categories together make up 57 posts.

Can I apply for more than one post?

No. CEN 03/2025 permits only one online application. Submitting multiple applications, even to different RRBs, leads to rejection and debarment from future RRB and RRC examinations.

What is the negative marking scheme?

One third of the mark assigned to a question is deducted for each wrong answer. Unattempted questions carry no penalty.

Is there a skill test or interview?

No. Selection is by a single CBT followed by Document Verification and a medical fitness test. There is no separate interview or trade test.
