How the cut-off is decided
The Preliminary examination, 80 marks in 45 composite minutes, is a screen. Its marks do not enter the merit list, and candidates are shortlisted for the Main by bank and category.
Cut-offs are set for each participating Regional Rural Bank and each category separately, so the relevant figure is the one for the bank and state you applied to.
Scores are normalised across shifts before cut-offs are drawn.
The final merit list combines the Main examination and the interview in an 80:20 ratio. The interview carries a minimum qualifying mark, commonly 40 per cent and 35 per cent for reserved categories.
The Main offers a choice of the English or Hindi language paper, which does not change how the cut-off is computed.

General Awareness in this cycle leans rural, so a well-prepared awareness score is often what separates candidates at the Main cut-off.
